Overview

In this one hour CE webinar about patient monitoring, a nationally recognized and respected opinion leader will teach keys to the effective implementation of technology for improved postoperative patient safety. On March 14, 2016 the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) updated their requirements for administration of medication in hospitals, particularly intravenous (IV) medications and post-operative care of patients receiving IV opioids. CMS ?strongly encourages? hospitals to review recommendations of patient safety organizations for best practices related to sedation assessment, frequency of monitoring and use of technology-supported monitoring, such as continuous pulse oximetry and/or capnography linked to clinical staff notification devices. This one hour webinar covers patient risk, causes and impacts of failure to recognize clinical deterioration, the correlation between time to intervention and avoidable morbidity, oxygenation and ventilation monitoring versus cardiac telemetry, and technology solutions to improve postoperative patient outcomes.
